Savoury and unsavoury

Harvesting more parnsnips and leeks. Used to make a cock-a-leekie. Except it was more of a giant broth, brimful with root veg. Just what you need when you’ve been turning over compost and digging.

So that’s the savoury. The Un? Reading about Mary Beard’s online abuse.  Glad to hear the site has been taken down.

And Davos. Debt, poverty and industry on the agenda.  And yet sadly still lacking balance.  Balance in the form of female representation.  And before I get too deep on all this political stuff, after all there’s cake and tea on this blog. I thought I would put together a list of fabulous women.  Why?  Because it’s a Sunday, it’s my blog and sometimes we need to focus on the positive.  Good enough answer?

Mary Beard – totally engaging.

Christine Lagarde – one powerful lady

Kate Mosse – co-founded the orange prize for fiction

Maggie Hambling – the wave

Aung San Suu Kyi – for choosing a rose bush

Cathy Newman – for her calm response to George Galloway

Victoria Coren – the voice of reason.

Who would you add?
