To be honest it was a long shot. Would this work? How much wood to add to the fire? How hot would it get? I started out with the pot really high up on the tripod. This doesn’t work. It needs to sit nicely just above the flames. And my solitary veggie burger was cooked first before the toulouse sausage were added.
So the bottom line is this. It really isn’t cooking at all, it’s warming stuff up. Onion, tomato, mushroom and lentil burger bought from the Ludlow food market along with the super greasy tear and share garlic and rosemary bread. And you know what, it was pretty darn tasty. Simple pleasures. A bit like a dirty dog with a ball.
